The Best Pallet

How a Pallet is Used

A pallet rack is a rectangular transport structure, that supports products in an upright fashion while being lifted with a forklift, pallet cranes, a pallet jack, or a front-end loader. In shipping applications, it is used to transport pallets and crates weighing up to 300 kg or more per truck. A pallet rack can lift several stacked pallets on its sides. It also can provide for vertical movement of the stacking pallets.

A pallet rack is generally made up of at least one frame, which is supported by at least two or more boom rails. The frame is generally fixed to the frame rail with steel ties. In addition to storing and lifting pallets, forklifts, and pallet jacks, the racks can be used for off-loading and forward movement of stacked pallets. In other words, the racks are used for heavy loads and to lift light loads. A pallet rack is an important part of every modern warehouse or manufacturing facility, as it provides the forklift easier access to the load or pallet and frees up the personnel who manage the load.

Pallets come in different shapes and sizes. The main types are 'oil', 'plastic' and 'wood'. Wooden pallets are usually tall and thick with a diameter of about 18 inches. Plastic pallets are of smaller size and weigh less than an ounce each. Oil pallets are large and heavy, measuring about four to six feet in diameter and weighing up to five tons. All types of pallets can hold dry goods and some are designed to hold wet goods as well.

The most common material used in pallets is wood. This material is strong and durable and can withstand extreme temperatures and chemicals found in the warehousing industry. However, plastic pallets are commonly used due to their lighter weight and ability to be molded into various shapes. Both wooden and plastic pallets are commonly used by many manufacturers and retailers.
